Steve Kahane is an AQB Certified USPAP instructor appraising residential real estate in the Houston metro area since 2001. His experience in Houston includes valuation of single-family homes, manufactured homes, rural and acreage properties, vacant land, condos and multi-family properties. In addition to appraising, he has experience in appraisal review, expert testimony, litigation consulting, public speaking and valuation consulting. In addition to valuation, Steve has been teaching appraisal topics in Texas and nationally since 2020.
Since moving to Texas, Steve has been involved with the Association of Texas Appraisers serving as its President for two years, board member for 6 years and committee chairs for 6 years. Steve was also involved with the National Association of Appraisers, serving on the Board of Governors for 2 years.
Prior to moving to Houston, Steve was a commercial appraiser in Chicago Illinois where he valued shopping malls, hotels, apartment and office buildings and other commercial properties ranging from $1 to over $100 million. As a part of his commercial appraisal experience he analyzed cash flows in calculation of NPV and IRR, analyzed income and expense statements to capitalize net income, and performed market and demographic studies to test the feasibility of commercial enterprises.
